Description
The flamenco guitars we craft offer a direct and powerful sound, yet remain deep and resonant with excellent sustain. Designed for maximum comfort, our instruments are inspired by the legendary work of Santos Hernández, Domingo Esteso, Arcángel Fernández, and other great masters of their time.
Flamenca Blanca
The flamenca blanca is the most traditional flamenco guitar, designed to accompany singers and dancers. Traditionally built with spruce and Spanish cypress—woods that were readily available in Spain in the past and therefore more affordable—it embodies the classic flamenco sound. In addition to its tonal qualities, cypress is also known for its pleasant natural aroma.
While spruce remains the traditional choice for the soundboard, Western red cedar can also be used, offering an alternative tonal character.
Flamenca Negra
Flamenca negras gained prominence in the 1950s, when virtuoso flamenco guitarists like Ramón Montoya began performing solo concerts. As soloists, they sought instruments with greater depth and sustain to enhance their performances.
Flamenca negras, also known as concert flamenco guitars, can be built with either a spruce or cedar top. The back and sides can be made from a variety of rosewoods, including Madagascar rosewood, Indian rosewood, cocobolo, and bubinga. Other available tonewoods include ziricote, pau ferro, and more.
